About this coffee
A delicious and easy-to-drink Brazilian caffeine-free coffee that lets you come through the whole day. The natural pulping process brings prominent notes of pure chocolate to the forefront, with a touch of fruity sweetness.
More about the CO2-decaffeination process
During what is called the CO2 process, liquid CO2 – like in soda pop – is used to absorb caffeine from the beans. The CO2 selectively absorbs caffeine from the beans and then is subsequently expelled from the vat into an evaporator. There it is distilled and recondensed, so that the caffeine leaves the beans and the CO2 can be added back to the coffee. This process is repeated until the caffeine content in the coffee drops below 0.1%. The beauty of the CO2 process is that carbon dioxide is a 100% natural chemical substance. It is everywhere found and consumed daily. It is present in the carbonated water we drink and in the air we breathe. In contrast to other processes where substances like methyl ethylchloride are used, it leaves no toxic substances behind. The CO2 process also only removes caffeine from the coffee beans, thus preserving all good components. This means that the taste and aromatic components remain exactly where they belong: in the bean.
